Metallic in color the Kikokuryu have many challenges to koi breeders. Kikokuryu koi can be worth a fair amount of value as no two fish are ever be alike and rarely do you ever see large quantities available. The mysteries of the ever changing Kumonryu koi are amazing in itself. Having a rare metallic sheen increases the difficulty of breeding. There are many variations of Kikokuryu koi. The standard black and white metallic originated from the breeding of a Kumonryu koi and a platinum koi. This makes for a very rare and unique scale pattern along the dorsal ridge line. The difference between the Kikokuryu and Doitsu would be the black color that appears on the head. With the metallic sheen and rich dark black, makes for an amazing looking fish.
